Add path and filename to spreadsheets
It can be very useful to know where your electronic files are located when you're looking at a printout. Fortunately, it's easy to add.
Open your Excel spreadsheet. Go to File --> Page Setup -->Header/Footer. Click on the Custom Footer button, and the Footer window will appear. The icon clicking order has been added in red to the screen below.
To start, click in the Left Section.
1. To add current path and filename, click on the File Folder icon. (Optional: If you're using tabs on your spreadsheet, you may specify the particular tab by clicking on the Tab icon).
2. Press the spacebar, click on the Calendar icon.
3. Press the spacebar, click on the Clock icon.
4. To make the font size smaller and less obtrusive, click within the Left Section and select all by pressing CTRL-A. Then click the A icon and choose 8 pt. The Left Section will look like the screenshot above.
Click OK, OK, and you're finished.
The path and filename, date, and time will all be current when the document is printed, even if you've moved the spreadsheet.
