iSchool Services » Cluster Server
How can I access my files on cluster directly from my Windows workstation?
Cluster runs a service called samba, which allows files on the server to be accessed directly by Windows clients. Users are normally granted access only to their own home directories. If your project group has its own shared directory, please email support (ihelp@uw.edu) to enable remote access to that directory.
To connect to your home directory on the cluster, open My Computer or the Run dialog box, and enter the address \\cluster\username, where username is your username. You may map a drive letter to this address for convenience by opening the 'Map network drive..' box from the Tools menu of Windows Explorer.
If you have other directories available to you on cluster, or would like to see if you have other directories available to you, type \\cluster into the Run dialog box or the location bar in Windows Explorer.
