Configure Instant Messenger to use McAfee VirusScan when transferring files
This FAQ applies specifically to Windows Live Messenger version 8.1 or later (which is the most popular with iSchool staff) and McAfee VirusScan version 8.5i or later (which is the latest version of the UW site license software available free to students, staff and faculty as of this writing).
By default instant messenger programs are not configured to scan any of the files you receive. Here is how to change that.
1) Open Windows Live Messenger.
2) Click the Show Menu drop-down list at the top and then click > Tools > Options.
3) Click on File Transfer.

4) On the right side of the Options window, check the "Scan files for viruses using:" box and then click the Browse button.
5) Browse to here:
C:\Program Files\McAfee\VirusScan Enterprise\scan32.exe
Click on scan32.exe to select it and then click Open.
6) Click OK.
