If you want to try out release candidate 1 of the Windows XP service pack 2, you'll need to do the following to fix the McAffee virus updater, which the UW allows staff, faculty and students to download.

Open up the Control Panel and double-click the Administrative Tools applet.

Double-click Component Services.

Open Component Services item and then open DCOM Config as shown in the screenshot below.

Scroll down to the FrameworkService, right-click and select Properties.

Click the Security tab and change the Launch and Activation Permissions to the radio button option that says Default.
