How to use the Olympus transcriber
1. Install drivers and software on the included CD-ROM.
You need to install both the hardware driver and the software; if you plug in the transcriber, it will automatically take you to the hardware driver. You will need to manually browse to the disc to install the software. It will not work unless you do both these things. NOTE: The transcriber will NOT show up as a separate drive or USB port. The computer is probably going to give you some nasty red screens at this point that do not recognize the hardware. Ignore them.
2. Go to the Olympus Product Software Download site: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/software_results.asp?id=1219&os=w
3. Download and run DSS Player V6 Upgrade to V7 to your computer. You will also need to download and run the V7 to 7.10 update as well to make it compatible with Vista.
4. Open up Olympus DSS player off Start > All Programs menu. You can then import files into the DSS Player. The foot pedal is self-explanatory. It should, at this point, work. Make sure the sound is working on your computer and that your volume is not muted—transcribers don’t work if you can’t hear anything!
